i Which was Held in the Queens Hotel Perth on the Evening of th September iA
-
-
'Twas in the year of and on the th of SeptemberB
Which for a long time I will rememberB
And the gentlemen I entertained in the city of PerthC
Which is one of the grandest cities upon the earthC
-
At the Banquet there were gentlemen of high degreeD
And the viands they partook of filled their hearts with gleeD
There was Beef Fish and Potatoes galoreE
And we all ate until we could eat no moreE
-
The gentlemen present were very kind to meD
And the entertainment I gave them filled their hearts with gleeD
Especially the Recital I gave them from MacbethF
They were so much fascinated they almost lost their breathF
-
The audience were orderly and all went wellG
As cheerily and as smoothly as a marriage bellG
Mr James Speedie was the chairman and behaved right manfullyD
And sang a beautiful song which filled our hearts with gleeD
-
But when I sang my Rattling Boy from Dublin TownH
The audience were like to pull the house downH
With the hearty applause they showered upon meD
Because I sang the song so merrilyD
-
But in conclusion I must honestly sayI
I haven't been so well treated for manv a dayI
Because I got a Splendid Bed in the Queen's HotelG
And the breakfast I got there I liked right wellG
-
The treatment I received there would please the QueenJ
Because the cooking is most excellent and the beds are cleanJ
And in conclusion I return my thanks to one and allK
Especially the members of the Lyric Club big and smallK
Also the landlord of the Queen's Hotel yours trulyD
