Which was Held in the Queens Hotel Perth on the Evening of th SeptemberA
-
-
'Twas in the year of and on the th of SeptemberA
Which for a long time I will rememberA
And the gentlemen I entertained in the city of PerthB
Which is one of the grandest cities upon the earthB
-
At the Banquet there were gentlemen of high degreeC
And the viands they partook of filled their hearts with gleeC
There was Beef Fish and Potatoes galoreD
And we all ate until we could eat no moreD
-
The gentlemen present were very kind to meC
And the entertainment I gave them filled their hearts with gleeC
Especially the Recital I gave them from MacbethE
They were so much fascinated they almost lost their breathE
-
The audience were orderly and all went wellF
As cheerily and as smoothly as a marriage bellF
Mr James Speedie was the chairman and behaved right manfullyC
And sang a beautiful song which filled our hearts with gleeC
-
But when I sang my Rattling Boy from Dublin TownG
The audience were like to pull the house downG
With the hearty applause they showered upon meC
Because I sang the song so merrilyC
-
But in conclusion I must honestly sayH
I haven't been so well treated for manv a dayH
Because I got a Splendid Bed in the Queen's HotelF
And the breakfast I got there I liked right wellF
-
The treatment I received there would please the QueenI
Because the cooking is most excellent and the beds are cleanI
And in conclusion I return my thanks to one and allJ
Especially the members of the Lyric Club big and smallJ
Also the landlord of the Queen's Hotel yours trulyC
