Lines In Praise Of Mr. J. Graham Henderson, Hawick Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DDEE DDFF GGEE HHIJ IJII KKLL

Success to Mr J Graham Henderson who is a good manA
And to gainsay it there's few people canA
I say so from my own experienceB
And experience is a great defenceC
-
He is a good man I venture to sayD
Which I declare to the world without dismayD
Because he's given me a suit of Tweeds magnificent to seeE
So good that it cannot be surpassed in DundeeE
-
The suit is the best of Tweed cloth in every wayD
And will last me for many a long dayD
It's really good and in no way badF
And will help to make my heart feel gladF
-
He's going to send some goods to the World's FairG
And I hope of patronage he will get the biggest shareG
Because his Tweed cloth is the best I ever did seeE
In the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ninety threeE
-
At the International Exhibition and the Isle of Man ExhibitionH
He got a gold medal from each in recognitionH
Of his Scotch Tweeds so good and grandI
Which cannot be surpassed in fair ScotlandJ
-
Therefore good people his goods are really grandI
And manufactured at Weensforth Mill Hawick ScotlandJ
Where there's always plenty of Tweeds on handI
For the ready cash at the people's commandI
-
Mr Tocher measured me for the suitK
And it is very elegant which no one will disputeK
And I hope Mr Henry in Reform StreetL
Will gain customers by it the suit is so completeL
