Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDBB EEFF GGBB HHII JJKK LLBB

'Twas on the st of March and in the year ofA
I gave an entertainment in the city of DundeeB
To a select party of gentlemen big and smallC
Who appreciated my recital in Reform Street HallC
-
The meeting was convened by J P Smith's manager High StreetD
And many of J P Smith's employes were there me to greetD
And several other gentlemen within the cityB
Who were all delighted with the entertainment they got from meB
-
Mr Green was the chairman for the nightE
And in that capacity he acted rightE
He made a splendid address on my behalfF
Without introducing any slang or chaffF
-
I wish him success during lifeG
May he always feel happy and free from strifeG
For the kindness he has ever shown to meB
During our long acquaintance in DundeeB
-
I return my thanks to Mr J P Smith's menH
Who were at my entertainment more than nine or tenH
And the rest of the gentlemen that were thereI
Also deserves my thanks I do declareI
-
Because they showered upon me their approbationJ
And got up for me a handsome donationJ
Which was presented to me by Sir GreenK
In a purse most beautiful to be seenK
-
Which was a generous action in deedL
And came to me in time of needL
And the gentlemen that so generously treated meB
I'll remember during my stay in DundeeB
