Bonnie Kilmany in the County of FifeA
Is a healthy spot to reside in to lengthen one's lifeA
The scenery there in the summer time is truly grandB
Especially the beautiful hills and the woodlandB
-
ChorusC
-
Then bonnie Annie will you go with meD
And leave the crowded city of DundeeD
And breathe the pure fragrant airE
In the Howe of Kilmany so lovely and fairE
And the little village in the Howe is lovely to seeD
In the midst of green trees and shrubberyD
And the little rivulet as it wimples alongF
Can be heard singing aloud an aquatic songF
-
ChorusC
-
And the old church there is built on a knollG
And on the Sabbath mornings the church bell does tollG
Inviting the people to join in prayerE
While the echoes of the bell is heard in mid airE
-
ChorusC
-
Then there's a little schoolroom surrounded by treesH
A favourite haunt for butterflies and busy beesH
And an old red tiled smithy near byI
And the clink of the hammers can be heard sounding highI
-
ChorusC
-
And thew's a wood sawmill by the roadwayJ
And the noise can be heard by night and dayJ
As the circular saw wheels round and roundK
Making the village with its echoes resoundK
-
ChorusC
-
And in the harvest time on a fine summer mornL
The Howe looks most beautiful when the corn is shornL
And to hear the beautiful lark singing on highI
Will make you exclaim Dull care good byeI
