Bonnie Dundee In 1878 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGGHHDDIIJ JEEJJJJCCCKKJJ

Oh Bonnie Dundee I will sing in thy praiseA
A few but true simple laysA
Regarding some of your beauties of the present dayB
And virtually speaking there's none can them gainsayB
There's no other town I know of with you can compareC
For spinning mills and lasses fairC
And for stately buildings there's none can excelD
The beautiful Albert Institute or the Queen's HotelD
For it is most handsome to be seenE
Where accommodation can be had for Duke Lord or QueenE
And the four pillars of the front are made of Aberdeen granite very fineF
And most beautiful does shine just like a looking glassG
And for beauty and grandeur there's none can them surpassG
And your fine shops in Reform StreetH
Very few can with them competeH
For superfine goods there's none can excelD
From Inverness to ClerkenwellD
And your Tramways I must confessI
That they have proved a complete successI
Which I am right glad to seeJ
And a very great improvement to Bonnie DundeeJ
And there's the Royal Arch most handsome to be seenE
Erected to the memory of our Most Gracious QueenE
Most magnificent to seeJ
And a very great honour to the people of DundeeJ
Then there's the Baxter Park most beautiful to seeJ
And a great boon it is to the people of DundeeJ
For there they can enjoy themselves when they are free from careC
By inhaling the perfumed airC
Emanating from the sweet flowers and green trees and shrubs thereC
Oh Bonnie Dundee I must conclude my museK
And to write in praise of thee my pen does not refuseK
Your beauties that I have alluded to are most worthy to seeJ
And in conclusion I will call thee Bonnie DundeeJ
