Beautiful North Berwick Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DEFF GGHI JJKK AALL MMGG NNOO

North Berwick is a watering place with golfing links greenA
With a fine bathing beach most lovely to be seenA
And there's a large number of handsome villas alsoB
And often it's called the Scarborough of Scotland as PortobelloC
-
The greatest attraction is Tantallon Castle worthy of regardD
About three miles distant to the eastwardE
Which in time of war reoeived many a shockF
And it's deemed impregnable and built on a perpendicular rockF
-
The castle was built in times unknown to historyG
But 'tis said it belonged to the Douglas familyG
And the inside is a labyrinth of broken staircasesH
Also ruined chambers and many dismal placesI
-
Then there's the Berwick Law Hill feet highJ
Which no doubt is very attractive to the eyeJ
And skirted with a wood and a public walkK
Where visitors can enjoy themselves and have a social talkK
-
The wood is really lovely and enchanting to be seenA
In the spring or summer season when the trees are greenA
And as ye listen to the innocent birds singing merrily thereL
'Twill help to elevate your spirits and drive away dull careL
-
Then near by Tantallon is the fishing village of Canty BayM
Where boats can be hired to the Bass Rock about two miles awayM
And the surrounding scenery is magnificent to seeG
And as the tourists view the scene it fills their hearts with gleeG
-
Then away then away pleasure seekers in bandsN
And view Gullane with its beautiful sandsN
Which stretch along the sandy shores of FifeO
Where the tourist can enjoy himself and be free from strifeO
