A New Year's Resolution To Leave Dundee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEBBFFGBBBHHEE

Welcome thrice welcome to the yearA
For it is the year I intend to leave DundeeB
Owing to the treatment I receiveC
Which does my heart sadly grieveC
Every morning when I go outD
The ignorant rabble they do shoutD
'There goes Mad McGonagall'E
In derisive shouts as loud as they can bawlE
And lifts stones and snowballs throws them at meB
And such actions are shameful to be heard in the city of DundeeB
And I'm ashamed kind Christians to confessF
That from the Magistrates I can get no redressF
Therefore I have made up my mind in the year ofG
To leave the ancient City of DundeeB
Because the citizens and me cannot agreeB
The reason why because they disrespect meB
Which makes me feel rather discontentH
Therefore to leave them I am bentH
And I will make my arrangements without delayE
And leave Dundee some early dayE
