Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJK LMNONPNQHRNSTNC

A
Sometimes in the open you look upB
where birds go by or just nothingC
and wait A dim feeling comesD
you were like this once there was airE
and quiet it was by a lake orF
maybe a river you were alertG
as an otter and were suddenly bornH
like the evening star into wideI
still worlds like this one you have foundJ
again for a moment in the openK

Something is being told in the woods aisles ofL
shadow lead away a branch wavesM
a pencil of sunlight slowly travels itsN
path A withheld presence almostO
speaks but then retreats rustlesN
a patch of brush You can feelP
the centuries ripple generationsN
of wandering discovering being lostQ
and found eating dying being bornH
A walk through the forest strokes your furR
the fur you no longer have And your gazeN
down a forest aisle is a strange longS
plunge dark eyes looking for homeT
For delicious minutes you can feel your whiskersN
wider than your mind away out over everythingC
