Valentine's Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK GLGL AMNM

'Tis said that under distant skiesA
Nor you the fact denyB
What first attracts an Indian's eyesA
Becomes his deityC
-
Perhaps a lily or a roseD
That shares the morning's rayE
May to the waking swain discloseD
The regent of the dayE
-
Perhaps a plant in yonder groveF
Enrich'd with fragrant powerG
May tempt his vagrant eyes to roveF
Where blooms the sovereign flowerG
-
Perch'd on the cedar's topmost boughH
And gay with gilded wingsI
Perchance the patron of his vowH
Some artless linnet singsI
-
The swain surveys her pleased afraidJ
Then low to earth he bendsK
And owns upon her friendly aidJ
His health his life dependsK
-
Vain futile idols bird or flowerG
To tempt a votary's prayerL
How would his humble homage towerG
Should he behold my fairL
-
Yes might the Pagan's waking eyesA
O'er Flavia's beauty rangeM
He there would fix his lasting choiceN
Nor dare nor wish to changeM
