The Skylark Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

Go tuneful bird that gladd'st the skiesA
To Daphne's window speed thy wayB
And there on quivering pinions riseA
And there thy vocal art displayB
-
And if she deign thy notes to hearC
And if she praise thy matin songD
Tell her the sounds that soothe her earC
To Damon's native plains belongD
-
Tell her in livelier plumes array'dE
The bird from Indian groves may shineF
But ask the lovely partial maidE
What are his notes compared to thineF
-
Then bid her treat yon witless beauG
And all his flaunting race with scornH
And lend an ear to Damon's woeG
Who sings her praise and sings forlornH
