The Rose-bud Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGH IIDD JJK

'See Daphne see ' Florelio criedA
'And learn the sad effects of prideA
Yon shelter'd rose how safe conceal'dB
How quickly blasted when reveal'dB
-
'The sun with warm attractive raysC
Tempts it to wanton in the blazeC
A gale succeeds from eastern skiesD
And all its blushing radiance diesD
-
'So you my Fair of charms divineE
Will quit the plains too fond to shineE
Where Fame's transporting rays allureF
Though here more happy more secureF
-
'The breath of some neglected maidG
Shall make you sigh you left the shadeG
A breath to beauty's bloom unkindH
As to the rose an eastern wind '-
-
The nymph replied 'You first my SwainI
Confine your sonnets to the plainI
One envious tongue alike disarmsD
You of your wit me of my charmsD
-
'What is unknown the poet's skillJ
Or what unheard the tuneful thrillJ
What unadmired a charming mienK
Or what the rose's blush unseen '-
