Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDB EEFB GGDB GGBB

I told my nymph I told her trueA
My fields were small my flocks were fewA
While faltering accents spoke my fearB
That Flavia might not prove sincereB
-
Of crops destroyed by vernal coldC
And vagrant sheep that left my foldC
Of these she heard yet bore to hearD
And is not Flavia then sincereB
-
How chang'd by fortune's fickle windE
The friends I loved became unkindE
She heard and shed a generous tearF
And is not Flavia then sincereB
-
How if she deign'd my love to blessG
My Flavia must not hope for fressG
This too she heard and smiled to hearD
And Flavia sure must be sincereB
-
Go shear your flocks ye jovial swainsG
Go reap the plenty of your plainsG
Despoiled of all which you revereB
I know my Flavia's love sincereB
