I stole the Prince and I brought him hereA
And left him gaily prattlingB
With a highly respectable GondolierC
Who promised the Royal babe to rearC
And teach him the trade of a timoneerC
With his own beloved bratlingB
-
Both of the babes were strong and stoutD
And considering all things cleverC
Of that there is no manner of doubtD
No probable possible shadow of doubtD
No possible doubt whateverC
-
Time sped and when at the end of a yearC
I sought that infant cherishedE
That highly respectable GondolierC
Was lying a corpse on his humble bierC
I dropped a Grand Inquisitor's tearC
That Gondolier had perishedE
-
A taste for drink combined with goutD
Had doubled him up for everC
Of THAT there is no manner of doubtD
No probable possible shadow of doubtD
No possible doubt whateverC
-
But owing I'm much disposed to fearC
To his terrible taste for tipplingB
That highly respectable GondolierC
Could never declare with a mind sincereC
Which of the two was his offspring dearC
And which the Royal striplingB
-
Which was which he could never make outD
Despite his best endeavourC
Of THAT there is no manner of doubtD
No probable possible shadow of doubtD
No possible doubt whateverC
-
The children followed his old careerC
This statement can't be parriedF
Of a highly respectable GondolierC
Well one of the two who will soon be hereC
But WHICH of the two is not quite clearC
Is the Royal Prince you marriedF
-
Search in and out and round aboutD
And you'll discover neverC
A tale so free from every doubtD
All probable possible shadow of doubtD
All possible doubt whateverC
