The Coming By-and-by Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBBBCC DEDE FGFGHIHIFGFG

Sad is that woman's lot who year by yearA
Sees one by one her beauties disappearA
As Time grown weary of her heart drawn sighsB
Impatiently begins to dim her eyesB
Herself compelled in life's uncertain gloamingsB
To wreathe her wrinkled brow with well saved combingsB
Reduced with rouge lipsalve and pearly greyC
To make up for lost time as best she mayC
-
Silvered is the raven hairD
Spreading is the parting straightE
Mottled the complexion fairD
Halting is the youthful gaitE
-
Hollow is the laughter freeF
Spectacled the limpid eyeG
Little will be left of meF
In the coming by and byG
Fading is the taper waistH
Shapeless grows the shapely limbI
And although securely lacedH
Spreading is the figure trimI
Stouter than I used to beF
Still more corpulent grow IG
There will be too much of meF
In the coming by and byG
