The Baffled Grumbler Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCBDDEFFEGGHH IIJKKJLLEMMEEEHH NNJOOJMMBKKBMMHH

Whene'er I pokeA
Sarcastic jokeA
Replete with malice spitefulB
The people vileC
Politely smileC
And vote me quite delightfulB
Now when a wightD
Sits up all nightD
Ill natured jokes devisingE
And all his wilesF
Are met with smilesF
It's hard there's no disguisingE
Oh don't the days seem lank and longG
When all goes right and nothing goes wrongG
And isn't your life extremely flatH
With nothing whatever to grumble atH
-
When German bandsI
From music standsI
Play Wagner imperFECTlyJ
I bid them goK
They don't say noK
But off they trot directlyJ
The organ boysL
They stop their noiseL
With readiness surprisingE
And grinning herdsM
Of hurdy gurdsM
Retire apologisingE
Oh don't the days seem lank and longE
When all goes right and nothing goes wrongE
And isn't your life extremely flatH
With nothing whatever to grumble atH
-
I've offered goldN
In sums untoldN
To all who'd contradict meJ
I've said I'd payO
A pound a dayO
To any one who kicked meJ
I've bribed with toysM
Great vulgar boysM
To utter something spitefulB
But bless you noK
They WILL be soK
Confoundedly politefulB
In short these aggravating ladsM
They tickle my tastes they feed my fadsM
They give me this and they give me thatH
And I've nothing whatever to grumble atH
