The Aesthete Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGGHIH JGKGBLMLGGHIH NLOLPQNQGGRHAH

If you're anxious for to shine in the high aesthetic line as a manA
of culture rareB
You must get up all the germs of the transcendental terms andC
plant them everywhereB
You must lie upon the daisies and discourse in novel phrases ofD
your complicated state of mindE
The meaning doesn't matter if it's only idle chatter of aF
transcendental kindE
And every one will sayG
As you walk your mystic wayG
If this young man expresses himself in terms too deep for MEH
Why what a very singularly deep young man this deep young man mustI
beH
-
Be eloquent in praise of the very dull old days which have longJ
since passed awayG
And convince 'em if you can that the reign of good QUEEN ANNE wasK
Culture's palmiest dayG
Of course you will pooh pooh whatever's fresh and new and declareB
it's crude and meanL
And that Art stopped short in the cultivated court of the EMPRESSM
JOSEPHINEL
And every one will sayG
As you walk your mystic wayG
If that's not good enough for him which is good enough for MEH
Why what a very cultivated kind of youth this kind of youth mustI
beH
-
Then a sentimental passion of a vegetable fashion must excite yourN
languid spleenL
An attachment E LA Plato for a bashful young potato or a not tooO
French French beanL
Though the Philistines may jostle you will rank as an apostle inP
the high aesthetic bandQ
If you walk down Piccadilly with a poppy or a lily in yourN
mediaeval handQ
And every one will sayG
As you walk your flowery wayG
If he's content with a vegetable love which would certainly notR
suit MEH
Why what a most particularly pure young man this pure young manA
must beH
