To His Lute Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCACADAEFGEHHMy lute be as thou wert when thou didst grow | A |
With thy green mother in some shady grove | B |
When immelodious winds but made thee move | C |
And birds their ramage did on thee bestow | A |
Since that dear Voice which did thy sounds approve | C |
Which wont in such harmonious strains to flow | A |
Is reft from Earth to tune those spheres above | D |
What art thou but a harbinger of woe | A |
Thy pleasing notes be pleasing notes no more | E |
But orphans' wailings to the fainting ear | F |
Each stroke a sigh each sound draws forth a tear | G |
For which be silent as in woods before | E |
Or if that any hand to touch thee deign | H |
Like widowed turtle still her loss complain | H |
