To M. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHHIF in the summer of thy bright regard | A |
For one brief season these poor Rhymes shall live | B |
I ask no more nor think my fate too hard | A |
If other eyes but wintry looks should give | C |
Nor will I grieve though what I here have writ | D |
O er burdened Time should drop among the ways | E |
And to the unremembering dust commit | D |
Beyond the praise and blame of other days | E |
The song doth pass but I who sing remain | F |
I pluck from Death s own heart a life more deep | G |
And as the Spring that dies not in her train | F |
Doth scatter blossoms for the Winds to reap | G |
So I immortal as I fare along | H |
Will strew my path with mortal flowers of song | H |
