To M. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHH

IF in the summer of thy bright regardA
For one brief season these poor Rhymes shall liveB
I ask no more nor think my fate too hardA
If other eyes but wintry looks should giveC
Nor will I grieve though what I here have writD
O er burdened Time should drop among the waysE
And to the unremembering dust commitD
Beyond the praise and blame of other daysE
The song doth pass but I who sing remainF
I pluck from Death s own heart a life more deepG
And as the Spring that dies not in her trainF
Doth scatter blossoms for the Winds to reapG
So I immortal as I fare alongH
Will strew my path with mortal flowers of songH
