Prologue To Hawthorn And Lavender Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

These to the glory and praise of the green landA
That bred my women and that holds my deadB
ENGLAND and with her the strong broods that standA
Wherever her fighting lines are thrust or spreadB
They call us proud Look at our English RoseC
Shedders of blood Where hath our own been sparedD
Shopkeepers Our accompt the high GOD knowsC
Close In our bounty half the world hath sharedD
They hate us and they envy Envy and hateE
Should drive them to the PIT'S edge Be it soF
That race is damned which misesteems its fateE
And this in GOD'S good time they all shall knowF
And know you too you good green ENGLAND thenG
Mother of mothering girls and governing menG
