To The Fringed Gentian. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ

Thou blossom bright with autumn dewA
And coloured with the heaven's own blueA
That openest when the quiet lightB
Succeeds the keen and frosty nightB
-
Thou comest not when violets leanC
O'er wandering brooks and springs unseenC
Or columbines in purple dressedD
Nod o'er the ground bird's hidden nestD
-
Thou waitest late and com'st aloneE
When woods are bare and birds are flownE
And frosts and shortening days portendF
The aged year is near his endF
-
Then doth thy sweet and quiet eyeG
Look through its fringes to the skyG
Blue blue as if that sky let fallH
A flower from its cerulean wallH
-
I would that thus when I shall seeI
The hour of death draw near to meI
Hope blossoming within my heartJ
May look to heaven as I departJ
