The Massacre At Scio Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF AGAG

Weep not for Scio's children slainA
Their blood by Turkish falchions shedB
Sends not its cry to Heaven in vainA
For vengeance on the murderer's headB
-
Though high the warm red torrent ranC
Between the flames that lit the skyD
Yet for each drop an armed manC
Shall rise to free the land or dieD
-
And for each corpse that in the seaE
Was thrown to feast the scaly herdsF
A hundred of the foe shall beE
A banquet for the mountain birdsF
-
Stern rites and sad shall Greece ordainA
To keep that day along her shoreG
Till the last link of slavery's chainA
Is shivered to be worn no moreG
