The Gladness Of Nature. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ

Is this a time to be cloudy and sadA
When our mother Nature laughs aroundB
When even the deep blue heavens look gladA
And gladness breathes from the blossoming groundB
-
There are notes of joy from the hang bird and wrenC
And the gossip of swallows through all the skyD
The ground squirrel gayly chirps by his denC
And the wilding bee hums merrily byD
-
The clouds are at play in the azure spaceE
And their shadows at play on the bright green valeF
And here they stretch to the frolic chaseE
And there they roll on the easy galeF
-
There's a dance of leaves in that aspen bowerG
There's a titter of winds in that beechen treeH
There's a smile on the fruit and a smile on the flowerG
And a laugh from the brook that runs to the seaH
-
And look at the broad faced sun how he smilesI
On the dewy earth that smiles in his rayJ
On the leaping waters and gay young islesI
Ay look and he'll smile thy gloom awayJ
