Oh Fairest Of The Rural Maids. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH CCII

Oh fairest of the rural maidsA
Thy birth was in the forest shadesA
Green boughs and glimpses of the skyB
Were all that met thy infant eyeB
-
Thy sports thy wanderings when a childC
Were ever in the sylvan wildC
And all the beauty of the placeD
Is in thy heart and on thy faceD
-
The twilight of the trees and rocksE
Is in the light shade of thy locksE
Thy step is as the wind that weavesF
Its playful way among the leavesF
-
Thine eyes are springs in whose sereneG
And silent waters heaven is seenG
Their lashes are the herbs that lookH
On their young figures in the brookH
-
The forest depths by foot unpressedC
Are not more sinless than thy breastC
The holy peace that fills the airI
Of those calm solitudes is thereI
