Ode For An Agricultural Celebration Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFG HIHIJKJKLMNM

Far back in the agesA
The plough with wreaths was crownedB
The hands of kings and sagesC
Entwined the chaplet roundB
Till men of spoil disdained the toilD
By which the world was nourishedE
And dews of blood enriched the soilD
Where green their laurels flourishedE
Now the world her fault repairsF
The guilt that stains her storyG
And weeps her crimes amid the caresF
That formed her earliest gloryG
-
The proud throne shall crumbleH
The diadem shall waneI
The tribes of earth shall humbleH
The pride of those who reignI
And War shall lay his pomp awayJ
The fame that heroes cherishK
The glory earned in deadly frayJ
Shall fade decay and perishK
Honour waits o'er all the EarthL
Through endless generationsM
The art that calls her harvests forthN
And feeds the expectant nationsM
