Mary Magdalen (from The Spanish Of Bartolome Leonardo De Argensola) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACD EFFEGG HIIHJJ KLLKGG

Blessed yet sinful one and broken heartedA
The crowd are pointing at the thing forlornB
In wonder and in scornB
Thou weepest days of innocence departedA
Thou weepest and thy tears have power to moveC
The Lord to pity and loveD
-
The greatest of thy follies is forgivenE
Even for the least of all the tears that shineF
On that pale cheek of thineF
Thou didst kneel down to Him who came from heavenE
Evil and ignorant and thou shalt riseG
Holy and pure and wiseG
-
It is not much that to the fragrant blossomH
The ragged brier should change the bitter firI
Distil Arabian myrrhI
Nor that upon the wintry desert's bosomH
The harvest should rise plenteous and the swainJ
Bear home the abundant grainJ
-
But come and see the bleak and barren mountainsK
Thick to their tops with roses come and seeL
Leaves on the dry dead treeL
The perished plant set out by living fountainsK
Grows fruitful and its beauteous branches riseG
For ever towards the skiesG
