March Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI BDBD BJBJ BBBBThe stormy March is come at last | A |
With wind and cloud and changing skies | B |
I hear the rushing of the blast | A |
That through the snowy valley flies | B |
- | |
Ah passing few are they who speak | C |
Wild stormy month in praise of thee | D |
Yet though thy winds are loud and bleak | C |
Thou art a welcome month to me | D |
- | |
For thou to northern lands again | E |
The glad and glorious sun dost bring | F |
And thou hast joined the gentle train | G |
And wear'st the gentle name of Spring | F |
- | |
And in thy reign of blast and storm | H |
Smiles many a long bright sunny day | I |
When the changed winds are soft and warm | H |
And heaven puts on the blue of May | I |
- | |
Then sing aloud the gushing rills | B |
And the full springs from frost set free | D |
That brightly leaping down the hills | B |
Are just set out to meet the sea | D |
- | |
The year's departing beauty hides | B |
Of wintry storms the sullen threat | J |
But in thy sternest frown abides | B |
A look of kindly promise yet | J |
- | |
Thou bring'st the hope of those calm skies | B |
And that soft time of sunny showers | B |
When the wide bloom on earth that lies | B |
Seems of a brighter world than ours | B |
