Lines On Revisiting The Country Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEFGG BHBHII JKJKLL MDMDNN OPOPQQ

I stand upon my native hills againA
Broad round and green that in the summer skyB
With garniture of waving grass and grainC
Orchards and beechen forests basking lieB
While deep the sunless glens are scooped betweenD
Where brawl o'er shallow beds the streams unseenD
-
A lisping voice and glancing eyes are nearE
And ever restless feet of one who nowF
Gathers the blossoms of her fourth bright yearE
There plays a gladness o'er her fair young browF
As breaks the varied scene upon her sightG
Upheaved and spread in verdure and in lightG
-
For I have taught her with delighted eyeB
To gaze upon the mountains to beholdH
With deep affection the pure ample skyB
And clouds along its blue abysses rolledH
To love the song of waters and to hearI
The melody of winds with charmed earI
-
Here I have 'scaped the city's stifling heatJ
Its horrid sounds and its polluted airK
And where the season's milder fervours beatJ
And gales that sweep the forest borders bearK
The song of bird and sound of running streamL
Am come awhile to wander and to dreamL
-
Ay flame thy fiercest sun thou canst not wakeM
In this pure air the plague that walks unseenD
The maize leaf and the maple bough but takeM
From thy strong heats a deeper glossier greenD
The mountain wind that faints not in thy rayN
Sweeps the blue steams of pestilence awayN
-
The mountain wind most spiritual thing of allO
The wide earth knows when in the sultry timeP
He stoops him from his vast cerulean hallO
He seems the breath of a celestial climeP
As if from heaven's wide open gates did flowQ
Health and refreshment on the world belowQ
