Blessed Are They That Mourn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GHGH IEJC KLKL MNMI

Oh deem not they are blest aloneA
Whose lives a peaceful tenor keepB
The Power who pities man has shownA
A blessing for the eyes that weepB
-
The light of smiles shall fill againC
The lids that overflow with tearsD
And weary hours of woe and painE
Are promises of happier yearsF
-
There is a day of sunny restG
For every dark and troubled nightH
And grief may bide an evening guestG
But joy shall come with early lightH
-
And thou who o'er thy friend's low bierI
Sheddest the bitter drops like rainE
Hope that a brighter happier sphereJ
Will give him to thy arms againC
-
Nor let the good man's trust departK
Though life its common gifts denyL
Though with a pierced and broken heartK
And spurned of men he goes to dieL
-
For God has marked each sorrowing dayM
And numbered every secret tearN
And heaven's long age of bliss shall payM
For all his children suffer hereI
