A Presentiment Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFG HIHICC JKJKLL

Oh father let us hence for harkA
A fearful murmur shakes the airB
The clouds are coming swift and darkA
What horrid shapes they wearB
A winged giant sails the skyC
Oh father father let us flyC
-
Hush child it is a grateful soundD
That beating of the summer showerE
Here where the boughs hang close aroundD
We'll pass a pleasant hourE
Till the fresh wind that brings the rainF
Has swept the broad heaven clear againG
-
Nay father let us haste for seeH
That horrid thing with horned browI
His wings o'erhang this very treeH
He scowls upon us nowI
His huge black arm is lifted highC
Oh father father let us flyC
-
Hush child but as the father spokeJ
Downward the livid firebolt cameK
Close to his ear the thunder brokeJ
And blasted by the flameK
The child lay dead while dark and stillL
Swept the grim cloud along the hillL
