Catharina. Addressed To Miss Stapleton (afterwards Mrs. Courtney). Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI JKJKLMLM NONPQRQR STSTUVWV XYXYZA2ZA2 B2C2B2C2D2OD2P

She came she is gone we have metA
And meet perhaps never againB
The sun of that moment is setA
And seems to have risen in vainC
Catharina has fled like a dreamD
So vanishes pleasure alasE
But has left a regret and esteemD
That will not so suddenly passE
-
-
The last evening ramble we madeF
Catharina Maria and IG
Our progress was often delay'dF
By the nightingale warbling nighG
We paused under many a treeH
And much she was charm'd with a toneI
Less sweet to Maria and meH
Who so lately had witness'd her ownI
-
-
My numbers that day she had sungJ
And gave them a grace so divineK
As only her musical tongueJ
Could infuse into numbers of mineK
The longer I heard I esteem'dL
The work of my fancy the moreM
And e'en to myself never seem'dL
So tuneful a poet beforeM
-
-
Though the pleasures of London exceedN
In number the days of the yearO
Catharina did nothing impedeN
Would feel herself happier hereP
For the close woven arches of limesQ
On the banks of our river I knowR
Are sweeter to her many timesQ
Than aught that the city can showR
-
-
So it is when the mind is enduedS
With a well judging taste from aboveT
Then whether embellish'd or rudeS
'Tis nature alone that we loveT
The achievements of art may amuseU
May even our wonder exciteV
But groves hills and valleys diffuseW
A lasting a sacred delightV
-
-
Since then in the rural recessX
Catharina alone can rejoiceY
May it still be her lot to possessX
The scene of her sensible choiceY
To inhabit a mansion remoteZ
From the clatter of street pacing steedsA2
And by Philomel's annual noteZ
To measure the life that she leadsA2
-
-
With her book and her voice and her lyreB2
To wing all her moments at homeC2
And with scenes that new rapture inspireB2
As oft as it suits her to roamC2
She will have just the life she prefersD2
With little to hope or to fearO
And ours would be pleasant as hersD2
Might we view her enjoying it hereP
