To The Rose Upon The Rood Of Time Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF GGHHIIJJKKAA

Red Rose proud Rose sad Rose of all my daysA
Come near me while I sing the ancient waysA
Cuchulain battling with the bitter tideB
The Druid grey wood nurtured quiet eyedB
Who cast round Fergus dreams and ruin untoldC
And thine own sadness where of stars grown oldC
In dancing silver sandalled on the seaD
Sing in their high and lonely melodyD
Come near that no more blinded hy man's fateE
I find under the boughs of love and hateE
In all poor foolish things that live a dayF
Eternal beauty wandering on her wayF
-
Come near come near come near Ah leave me stillG
A little space for the rose breath to fillG
Lest I no more bear common things that craveH
The weak worm hiding down in its small caveH
The field mouse running by me in the grassI
And heavy mortal hopes that toil and passI
But seek alone to hear the strange things saidJ
By God to the bright hearts of those long deadJ
And learn to chaunt a tongue men do not knowK
Come near I would before my time to goK
Sing of old Eire and the ancient waysA
Red Rose proud Rose sad Rose of all my daysA
