Hound Voice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDE FGHIGJK LMNMMOP

Because we love bare hills and stunted treesA
And were the last to choose the settled groundB
Its boredom of the desk or of the spade becauseC
So many years companioned by a houndB
Our voices carry and though slumber boundB
Some few half wake and half renew their choiceD
Give tongue proclaim their hidden name 'hound voice 'E
-
The women that I picked spoke sweet and lowF
And yet gave tongue 'Hound voices' were they allG
We picked each other from afar and knewH
What hour of terror comes to test the soulI
And in that terror's name obeyed the callG
And understood what none have understoodJ
Those images that waken in the bloodK
-
Some day we shall get up before the dawnL
And find our ancient hounds before the doorM
And wide awake know that the hunt is onN
Stumbling upon the blood dark track once moreM
Then stumbling to the kill beside the shoreM
Then cleaning out and bandaging of woundsO
And chants of victory amid the encircling houndsP
