The Thought Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFG HHHH IIJJJ HHHH KKL MMJJ NNHHOP

Into the skies one summer's dayA
I sent a little Thought awayA
Up to where in the blue roundB
The sun sat shining without soundB
-
Then my Thought came back to meC
Little Thought what did you seeC
In the regions whence you comeD
And when I spoke my Thought was dumbD
-
But she breathed of what was thereE
In the pure bright upper airE
And because my Thought so shoneF
I knew she had been shone uponG
-
Next by night a Thought I sentH
Up into the firmamentH
When the eager stars were outH
And the still moon shone aboutH
-
And my Thought went past the moonI
In between the stars but soonI
Held her breath and durst not stirJ
For the fear that covered herJ
Then she thought in this demurJ
-
'Dare I look beneath the shadeH
Into where the worlds are madeH
Where the suns and stars are wroughtH
Shall I meet another ThoughtH
-
'Will that other Thought have wingsK
Shall I meet strange heavenly thingsK
Thought of Thoughts and Light of LightsL
Breath of Breaths and Night of Nights '-
-
Then my Thought began to harkM
In the illuminated darkM
Till the silence over underJ
Made her heart beat more than thunderJ
-
And my Thought came trembling backN
But with something on her trackN
And with something at her sideH
Nor till she has lived and diedH
Lived and died and lived againO
Will that awful thing seem plainP
