The First Tooth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAA BBB CCD AAA EEE FFF GGG AAA

There once was a wood and a very thick woodA
So thick that to walk was as much as you couldA
But a sunbeam got in and the trees understoodA
-
I went to this wood at the end of the snowsB
And as I was walking I saw a primroseB
Only one Shall I show you the place where it growsB
-
There once was a house and a very dark houseC
As dark I believe as the hole of a mouseC
Or a tree in my wood at the thick of the boughsD
-
I went to this house and I searched it arightA
I opened the chambers and I found a lightA
Only one Shall I show you this little lamp brightA
-
There once was a cave and this very dark caveE
One day took a gift from an incoming waveE
And I made up my mind to know what the sea gaveE
-
I took a lit torch I walked round the nessF
When the water was lowest and in a recessF
In my cave was a jewel Will nobody guessF
-
O there was a baby he sat on my kneeG
With a pearl in his mouth that was precious to meG
His little dark mouth like my cave of the seaG
-
I said to my heart And my jewel is brightA
He blooms like a primrose He shines like a lightA
Put your hand in his mouth Do you feel He can biteA
