Wishing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDB CEBFGB HIHHJB KLMMNB

Ring Ting I wish I were a PrimroseA
A bright yellow Primrose blowing in the springB
The stooping boughs above meC
The wandering bee to love meC
The fern and moss to creep acrossD
And the Elm tree for our kingB
-
Nay stay I wish I were an Elm treeC
A great lofty Elm tree with green leaves gayE
The winds would set them dancingB
The sun and moonshine glance inF
The birds would house among the boughsG
And sweetly singB
-
Oh no I wish I were a RobinH
A Robin or a little Wren everywhere to goI
Through forest field or gardenH
And ask no leave or pardonH
Till winter comes with icy thumbsJ
To ruffle up our wingB
-
Well tell Where should I fly toK
Where go to sleep in the dark wood or dellL
Before a day was overM
Home comes the roverM
For mother's kiss sweeter thisN
Than any other thingB
