Up the airy mountainA
Down the rushy glenB
We daren't go a huntingC
For fear of little menB
Wee folk good folkD
Trooping all togetherE
Green jacket red capF
And white owl's featherE
-
Down along the rocky shoreG
Some make their homeH
They live on crispy pancakesI
Of yellow tide foamH
Some in the reedsJ
Of the black mountain lakeK
With frogs for their watch dogsL
All night awakeK
-
High on the hill topM
The old King sitsN
He is now so old and grayO
He 's nigh lost his witsN
With a bridge of white mistP
Columbkill he crossesQ
On his stately journeysR
From Slieveleague to RossesR
Or going up with musicS
On cold starry nightsR
To sup with the QueenT
Of the gay Northern LightsR
-
They stole little BridgetU
For seven years longV
When she came down againB
Her friends were all goneW
They took her lightly backX
Between the night and morrowY
They thought that she was fast asleepZ
But she was dead with sorrowY
They have kept her ever sinceR
Deep within the lakeK
On a bed of flag leavesR
Watching till she wakeK
-
By the craggy hill sideA2
Through the mosses bareB2
They have planted thorn treesR
For pleasure here and thereB2
If any man so daringC
As dig them up in spiteC2
He shall find their sharpest thornsR
In his bed at nightC2
-
Up the airy mountainA
Down the rushy glenB
We daren't go a huntingC
For fear of little menB
Wee folk good folkD
Trooping all togetherE
Green jacket red capF
And white owl's featherE
