Down On The Shore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGEHHHAH AIJIKLMLNLOOOAO

Down on the shore on the sunny shoreA
Where the salt smell cheers the landB
Where the tide moves bright under boundless lightC
And the surge on the glittering strandB
Where the children wade in the shallow poolsD
Or run from the froth in playE
Where the swift little boats with milk white wingsF
Are crossing the sapphire bayE
And the ship in full sail with a fortunate galeG
Holds proudy on her wayE
Where the nets are spread on the grass to dryH
And asleep hard by the fishermen lieH
Under the tent of the warm blue skyH
With the hushing wave on its golden floorA
To sing their lullabyH
-
Down on the shore on the stormy shoreA
Beset by a growling seaI
Whose mad waves leap on the rocky steepJ
Like wolves up a traveller's treeI
Where the foam flies wide and an angry blastK
Blows the curlew off with a screechL
Where the brown sea wrack torn up by the rootsM
Is flung out of fishes' reachL
And the tall ship rolls on the hidden shoalsN
And scatters her planks on the beachL
Where slate and straw through the village spinO
And a cottage fronts the fiercest dinO
With a sailor's wife sitting sad withinO
Hearkening the wind and the water's roarA
Till at last her tears beginO
