And through the Winter neglected lay | B |
Uncoils two little green leaves and two brown | A |
With tiny root taking hold on the clay | B |
As lifting and strengthening day by day | B |
It pushes red branchless sprouts new leaves | C |
And cell after cell the Power in it weaves | C |
Out of the storehouse of soil and clime | D |
To fashion a Tree in due course of time | D |
Tree with rough bark and boughs' expansion | E |
Where the Crow can build his mansion | E |
Or a Man in some new May | D |
Lie under whispering leaves and say | D |
Are the ills of one's life so very bad | F |
When a Green Tree makes me deliciously glad | F |
As I do now But where shall I be | G |
When this little Seed is a tall green Tree | G |
