Up The Line. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCD EEBBD FFGGD HHCCD IJKKD LLMMD CCNOD

Through blinding storm and clouds of nightA
We swiftly pushed our restless flightA
With thundering hoof and warning neighB
We urged our steed upon his wayC
Up the lineD
-
Afar the lofty head light gleamedE
Afar the whistle shrieked and screamedE
And glistening bright and rising highB
Our flakes of fire bestrewed the skyB
Up the lineD
-
Adown the long complaining trackF
Our wheels a message hurried backF
And quivering through the rails aheadG
Went news of our resistless treadG
Up the lineD
-
The trees gave back our din and shoutH
And flung their shadow arms aboutH
And shivering in their coats of grayC
They heard us roaring far awayC
Up the lineD
-
The wailing storm came on apaceI
And dashed its tears into our fadeJ
But steadily still we pierced it throughK
And cut the sweeping wind in twoK
Up the lineD
-
A rattling rush across the ridgeL
A thunder peal beneath the bridgeL
And valley and hill and sober plainM
Re echoed our triumphant strainM
Up the lineD
-
And when the Eastern streaks of grayC
Bespoke the dawn of coming dayC
We halted our steed his journey o'erN
And urged his giant form no moreO
Up the lineD
