To build a quiet city in his mindB
A single overwhelming wish to buildC
Not hastily for there is so much windB
So many eager smilers to be killedC
Obstructions one might overlook in hasteD
The ruined structures cluttering the pastE

A little at a time and slow is bestF
Crawling as though through endless corridorsG
Remembering always there are many doorsH
That open to admit the captured guestF
Once onlyI
Yet in spite of loss and guiltJ
And hurricanes of time it might be builtJ
-
-
A refuge permanent with trees that shadeK
When all the other cities die and fadeK
