Lately Our Poets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE

Lately our poets loiter'd in green lanesA
Content to catch the ballads of the plainsA
I fancied I had strength enough to climbB
A loftier station at no distant timeB
And might securely from intrusion dozeC
Upon the flowers thro' which Ilissus flowsC
In those pale olive grounds all voices ceaseD
And from afar dust fills the paths of GreeceD
My sluber broken and my doublet tornE
I find the laurel also bears a thornE
