I fancied I had strength enough to climb | B |
A loftier station at no distant time | B |
And might securely from intrusion doze | C |
Upon the flowers thro' which Ilissus flows | C |
In those pale olive grounds all voices cease | D |
And from afar dust fills the paths of Greece | D |
My sluber broken and my doublet torn | E |
I find the laurel also bears a thorn | E |
