Vigil Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDB EFGFHF IJEJKJ FLMNOL

Dark is the nightA
The fire burns faint and lowB
Hours days yearsC
Into grey ashes goB
I strive to readD
But sombre is the glowB
-
Thumbed are the pagesE
And the print is smallF
Mocking the windsG
That from the darkness callF
Feeble the fire that lendsH
Its light withalF
-
O ghost draw nearerI
Let thy shadowy hairJ
Blot out the pagesE
That we cannot shareJ
Be ours the one last leafK
By Fate left bareJ
-
Let's Finis scrawlF
And then Life's book put byL
Turn each to eachM
In all simplicityN
Ere the last flame is goneO
To warm us byL
