The Truants Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DBCB EBCB FBCB GBCB

Ere my heart beats too coldly and faintlyA
To remember sad things yet be gayB
I would sing a brief song of the world's little childrenC
Magic hath stolen awayB
-
The primroses scattered by AprilD
The stars of the wide Milky WayB
Cannot outnumber the hosts of the childrenC
Magic hath stolen awayB
-
The buttercup green of the meadowsE
The snow of the blossoming mayB
Lovelier are not than the legions of childrenC
Magic hath stolen awayB
-
The waves tossing surf in the moonbeamF
The albatross lone on the sprayB
Alone know the tears wept in vain for the childrenC
Magic hath stolen awayB
-
In vain for at hush of the eveningG
When the stars twinkle into the greyB
Seems to echo the far away calling of childrenC
Magic hath stolen awayB
