The Honey Robbers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEDDDDFGHHII DDDDAJIIKK

There were two Fairies Gimmul and MelA
Loved Earth Man's honey passing wellA
Oft at the hives of his tame beesB
They would their sugary thirst appeaseB
When even began to darken to nightC
They would hie along in the fading lightC
With elf locked hair and scarlet lipsD
And small stone knives to slit the skepsD
So softly not a bee insideE
Should hear the woven straw divideE
And then with sly and greedy thumbsD
Would rifle the sweet honeycombsD
And drowsily drone to drone would sayD
A cold cold wind blows in this wayD
And the great Queen would turn her headF
From face to face astonish dG
And though her maids with comb and brushH
Would comb and soothe and whisper HushH
About the hive would shrilly goI
A keening keening to and froI
At which those robbers 'neath the treesD
Would taunt and mock the honey beesD
And through their sticky teeth would buzzD
Just as an angry hornet doesD
And when this Gimmul and this MelA
Had munched and sucked and swilled their fillJ
Or ever Man's first cock could crowI
Back to their Fa rie Mounds they'd goI
Edging across the twilight airK
Thieves of a guise remotely fairK
