The Happy Encounter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCABDA EFGHHG

I saw sweet Poetry turn troubled eyesA
On shaggy Science nosing in the grassB
For by that way poor Poetry must passB
On her long pilgrimage to ParadiseC
He snuffled grunted squealed perplexed by fliesA
Parched weatherworn and near of sight alasB
From peering close where very little wasD
In dens secluded from the open skiesA
-
But Poetry in bravery went downE
And called his name soft clear and fearlesslyF
Stooped low and stroked his muzzle overgrownG
Refreshed his drought with dew wiped pure and freeH
His eyes and lo laughed loud for joy to seeH
In those grey deeps the azure of her ownG

Alan Collins - [email protected]: On 8th November 1997 I completed this poem by adding 2 lines to the 2nd stanza, thus fulfilling both the initial concept and the form of the 1st... which lines I offer here for other's to consider and/or enjoy:

"And, kneeling there, she spoke - intuitively -
Of starry things, and all the love she’d known."
