Nod Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNO

Softly along the road of eveningA
In a twilight dim with roseB
Wrinkled with age and drenched with dewC
Old Nod the shepherd goesB
-
His drowsy flock streams on before himD
Their fleeces charged with goldE
To where the sun's last beam leans lowF
On Nod the shepherd's foldE
-
The hedge is quick and green with briarG
From their sand the conies creepH
And all the birds that fly in heavenI
Flock singing home to sleepH
-
His lambs outnumber a noon's rosesJ
Yet when night's shadows fallK
His blind old sheep dog Slumber soonL
Misses not one of allK
-
His are the quiet steeps of dreamlandM
The waters of no more painN
His ram's bell rings 'neath an arch of starsO
'Rest rest and rest again '-
