Nightfall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGFGDD HIHIJAJAJFF

The last light fails that shallow pool of dayA
The coursers of the dark stamp down to drinkB
Arch their wild necks lift their wild heads and neighC
Their drivers gathering at the water brinkB
With eyes ashine from out their clustering hairD
Utter their hollow speech or gaze afarE
Rapt in irradiant reverie to whereD
Languishes lost in light the evening starE
-
Come the wood nymphs to dance within the gloomsF
Calling these charioteers with timbrels' dinG
Ashen with twilight the dark forest loomsF
O'er the nocturnal beasts that prowl withinG
O glory of beauty which the world makes fairD
Pant they their serenading on the airD
-
Sound the loud hooves and all abroad the skyH
The lusty charioteers their stations takeI
Planet to planet do the sweet Loves flyH
And in the zenith silver music wakeI
Cities of men in blindness hidden lowJ
Fume their faint flames to that arched firmamentA
But all the dwellers in the lonely knowJ
The unearthly are abroad and weary and spentA
With rush extinguished to their dreaming goJ
And world and night and star enclustered spaceF
The glory of beauty are in one enravished faceF
