When music sounds gone is the earth I knowB
And all her lovely things even lovelier growB
Her flowers in vision flame her forest treesC
Lift burdened branches stilled with ecstasiesC
-
When music sounds out of the water riseC
Naiads whose beauty dims my waking eyesC
Rapt in strange dreams burns each enchanted faceC
With solemn echoing stirs their dwelling placeC
-
When music sounds all that I was I amD
Ere to this haunt of brooding dust I cameE
And from Time's woods break into distant songF
The swift winged hours as I hasten alongF
