Mercutio Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACDDBEFDGDHIAlong an avenue of almond trees | A |
Came three girls chattering of their sweethearts three | B |
And lo Mercutio with Byronic ease | A |
Out of his philosophic eye cast all | C |
A mere flowered twig of thought whereat | D |
Three hearts fell still as when an air dies out | D |
And Venus falters lonely o'er the sea | B |
But when within the further mist of bloom | E |
His step and form were hid the smooth child Ann | F |
Said La and what eyes he had and Lucy said | D |
How sad a gentleman and Katherine | G |
I wonder now what mischief he was at | D |
And these three also April hid away | H |
Leaving the Spring faint with Mercutio | I |
