Melmillo Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEDD FEAABBAAGG

Three and thirty birds there stoodA
In an elder in a woodA
Called Melmillo flew off threeB
Leaving thirty in the treeB
Called Melmillo nine now goneC
And the boughs held twenty oneD
Called Melmillo and eighteenE
Left but three to nod and preenE
Called Melmillo three two oneD
Now of birds were feathers noneD
-
Then stole slim Me millo inF
To that wood all dusk and greenE
And with lean long palms outspreadA
Softly a strange dance did treadA
Not a note of music sheB
Had for echoing companyB
All the birds were flown to restA
In the hollow of her breastA
In the wood thorn elder willowG
Danced alone lone danced MelmilloG
